Hotel promo video: what to show, where it runs and when to make it

What should a hotel promo video show, which format fits each channel, and when should it be ready? AI production, when real footage is a must, and a checklist.

What should a hotel promo video show?

Guests don’t choose a hotel for its room count; they choose it for the moment they’ll have there: an anniversary, a honeymoon, the one long holiday of the year. A good hotel promo video (or hotel commercial, or hotel film) sells that moment. A video that lists rooms, pool and breakfast gives information; a video that shows a moment gives a reason to book.

Take Cinela’s hotel sample film, “The Same Table”. It isn’t client work; it’s a study we made to test the method. A small hotel on the Aegean; a couple who have come back to the same table for years celebrate their anniversary there once again. There’s no list of rooms, yet the viewer understands what the hotel promises: a place worth coming back to. Watch it on the home page.

A good idea for a hotel film has three qualities:

  • One moment. One story, one feeling; not ten features.
  • A specific guest. A couple, a family, a business traveller; whoever you’re selling to.
  • A real promise. Something the hotel truly offers: the view, the table, the quiet.

The same hotel can tell several moments: an anniversary dinner in summer, a slow autumn weekend, a family escaping the city in winter. Each speaks to a different audience and a different campaign. Instead of one master film, a set of short films that change with the season is worth considering.

Which format for which channel?

The same film doesn’t work the same way everywhere. The efficient route is to make the master film once and cut it for each channel.

Channel Format Job
Website home page 16:9 horizontal, silent short loop Give visitors the feeling in the first second
YouTube and digital ads 16:9 horizontal, 30 s Tell the whole story
Instagram Reels, TikTok, Shorts 9:16 vertical, 15 s cuts Stop the scroll; a hook in the first second
Instagram and Facebook feed 1:1 square Remind followers that the season is coming
Google Business Profile Up to 30 s, 75 MB, 720p or higher Show the hotel as it is on Maps; prefer real footage here

Cinela’s Commercial package includes 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 cuts; details are on our AI commercials page. For short vertical videos during the season there is the Social Series package (3 vertical videos × 15 s). For hooks and editing on Reels, see our Reels ad video guide.

Season timing: when should the film be ready?

The most common mistake with hotel films is timing. Summer isn’t sold in summer; early booking opens months before. In Turkey, for example, tour operator Jolly announced in December 2025 that early booking for the 2026 season had begun. So the summer film needs to be ready in winter.

For a traditional shoot this is a dead end. To capture summer light you have to wait for summer, and by then the season is already on sale. Making do with last year’s footage usually means a film that already looks dated.

A practical calendar:

  • Winter: the summer film and early booking cuts.
  • Spring: short vertical series for Reels; cuts for public holidays and school breaks.
  • Summer: in-season reminders, and a new film for autumn and winter stays.

What does AI change?

Traditional shoot With AI
The hotel Areas are cleared for the shoot; guests are affected The hotel runs as usual
Season and weather Wait for summer to get summer light A summer evening can be made in any season
Cast and crew Actors, crew and their accommodation Not needed
Timeline 4–8 weeks 5–7 business days
Changes Reshoot, new budget Frame by frame, same day

Figures for traditional shoots are industry-wide and not a quote. There’s one more difference: a new film with the same couple at the same table, this time in autumn light, doesn’t need a new shoot day.

At Cinela the process runs like this: day 1, a brief of about 20 minutes; day 2, the script and shot list; days 3–4, a frame for every scene; day 5, music, sound, edit and delivery. No step goes ahead without your approval. For a budget comparison, see how much a commercial costs.

When is real footage still a must?

The line is clear: AI can convey a feeling, but it should never show something your hotel doesn’t have. The ICC Advertising and Marketing Communications Code says marketing should be truthful and not misleading, whether through text, sound or visuals. Turkish consumer law bans misleading advertising and puts the burden of proving claims on the advertiser.

In practice:

  • The film matches the property. Rooms, pool, beach, view and services should look in the film the way they are on site. Room size, distance to the sea and the shape of the pool are never changed.
  • Rooms are shown with real footage. Use real photos and video wherever you present room types, amenities and prices. Google also asks that Business Profile photos represent reality.
  • AI carries the story. A couple’s evening, the light of a morning, a table across the years.
  • The label is clear. At Cinela every film is delivered clearly labelled as AI-made, just like the note under this article’s cover image. Meta may also require an AI label on photorealistic video on Instagram and Facebook.

A checklist before the brief

  1. What moment does the film sell? Write it in one sentence.
  2. Who is it for? A couple, a family, a business traveller.
  3. Which channels will it run on? Website, Reels, YouTube, Maps listing.
  4. When does early booking open? The film should be ready before that.
  5. Does every feature of the property shown in the film actually exist?
  6. Are your real room photos and videos up to date?
  7. Are labels and permissions in place? The film should state that it was made with AI, and any face, voice or logo should be used with permission.

A one-sentence idea is enough; write to us through the quote form.
